Promoter
The Comité de mise en valeur du lin is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1998, with two categories of mandates:
- The safeguard, promotion and transmission of knowledge relating to the processing of flax and linen using traditional methods;
- The artistic, cultural, social and economic development of the Portneuf region
The Biennale internationale du lin de Portneuf is an artistic and cultural event spotlighting contemporary practices related to flax and linen, both technically and conceptually. It takes place in odd years at cultural exhibition centres in the Portneuf region.
The organizers wish to prove that art can live and thrive in a rural region and become an engine for regional development.
The objectives are many, but definitely focused:
- To provide access to quality exhibitions;
- To support the vital forces of the cultural milieu;
- To generate real benefits, culturally, socially and economically;
- To attract media attention;
- To make the Portneuf region known and renowned for its cultural vitality;
- To develop feelings of pride and belonging to the Portneuf region.
