Recollect 12009The works of Mackenzie Frère are rooted in the traditions inherent in fabric making. Accordingly, he primarily uses natural fibres and dyes. While engaged in the repeated gestures of weaving, the movements of his body condition his state of mind and lead him to conceive contemplative works inspired by the beauty of the fibre and the vivid emotion summoned by colour. Time, breath and movement permeate the material and give it body.
Mackenzie Frère, Alberta, Canada Mackenzie Frère lives and works in Calgary, Alberta. His works, always handwoven, have been exhibited not only in Canada, but in Japan, China and Korea.
